School Philosophy
At Lakeside we believe that children learn by doing. Childhood is a special time for children to explore, create, find out about themselves and gain social competence in a nurturing atmosphere of respect, warmth, and love. We support children by helping them identify their emotions and verbalize their feelings as they develop their own sense of self-esteem.
We respect families as the primary and most important providers of nurturing and care and
we believe in the partnership of parents and teachers in children’s education.

Reading Together
On Wednesday, May 11th – Lakeside was proud to present Dianne Frankenstein, author of "Reading Together: Everything You Need to Know to Raise a Child Who Loves to Read".
Her presentation included best practices for reading with children, strategies to prevent the ‘summer slide’ and book recommendations that speak to both a child’s reading level and emotional readiness for the story.
