Fundraising Overview

Fundraising is a crucial part of maintaining the diversity of programs, quality of facilities and type of experience at Lakeside. Participation by families is a significant measure of success, as it indicates a committed and involved parent base. Grant providers and other programs are looking for an involved parent base when they are considering Lakeside. The fact you donate counts more than the actual dollar amount of your donation for grant applications.

The funds are used to improve playground equipment, school infrastructure and school systems, and support enrichment programs.

In addition to the Annual Fund drive, there are a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year. These activities are described below. Since every family is unique, Lakeside wants to provide as many opportunities for people to contribute in ways that feel most natural.

Annual Fund Drive

The Annual Fund Drive is a major fundraiser; this year the Annual Fund target is $15,000 with a goal for 100% participation. There is no target allocation per family, as families are able and willing to contribute varying amounts. Again, the goal is to reach full participation from families of the 150 Lakeside students.

As a non-profit organization, your donation to the Annual Fund Drive may be matched by your employer. Check with your Human Resources Department for details on the matching gifts program. In addition, your donation to Lakeside is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Scholastic Book Fair (Fall/Spring)

The Book Fair is held twice a year — in the Fall and the Spring. The fair is held in the Social Hall and is a great opportunity for classrooms, families and the school to benefit directly from book sales. In conjunction with Scholastic Books, the Book Fair offers affordable editions of many popular books sold in retail stores. Lakeside earns books and funds through the sale. In addition, each teachers place books on a "Classroom Wish Lists" which families can purchase on behalf of their children’s classroom. Net proceeds go to the PVO general fund.

Lakeside receives At any time of the year, parents can visit www.innisbrook.com and enter Lakeside’s school ID number 124322 so Lakeside can receive its portion of the sales. Box Top

Clip and save those Box Tops all year! Lakeside participates in Box Tops for Education. Box Tops are found on many General Mill’s packaged goods, such as Cheerios, ZipLoc bags, Scott paper products etc. Every box top collected means $0.10 for Lakeside. The goal is 1000 box tops. Turn your Box Tops into your child’s classroom. In addition, parents can join the Box Tops for Education Booster Club at www.boxtops4education.com and get free coupons and offers. Lakeside will receive $0.50 for every new family that joins before December 31, 2006. All funds go to the PVO general fund.

Spring Fundraiser Evening/Raffle Drawing

The spring fundraiser alternates each year between a raffle and a major spring fundraising event. This year the Lakeside PVO will host a Spring Fundraiser Evening; the fundraising goal is $15,000. For the Spring Fundraiser, parents are invited to an evening of fun and entertainment. Details about the 2007 Spring Fundraiser will be announced in the fall.

For the raffle, each classroom collects donated gift items and services and sells raffle tickets for those prizes. Prize drawing occurs at the Spring Family Picnic.

Walk-a-Thon

The Walk a Thon is usually the last fundraiser of the year. Each child will receive a form to get sponsors per lap. Each child receives a little goody bag for walking, and there are prizes for the highest fundraiser in each class. All funds go to the PVO general fund.
