Our A.M. Preschool Program

There are two morning preschool classes from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Our primary focus in both morning classes is to help children become comfortable in a classroom setting, with emphasis on developing social skills. Time in the classroom is divided between small and large group activities, free play, art and exploration with manipulatives.

We believe children learn by doing and they will have ample opportunity to begin understanding basic concepts such as numbers, colors, and shapes through hands-on experimentation. We work on building fine motor skills through our focus on art, play dough, and manipulatives. The degree of exposure to these areas depends upon the readiness and interest level of the children.

Our integrative curriculum allows children to develop skills in an age-appropriate manner through achievable exploratory activities and experiences with success. Creative, sensory play is an important element of our program. Outdoor play is an extension of the classroom, focusing on gross-motor activities. The yard supervisor plans our outdoor time so that is fun, creative, active and safe. It includes a sensory-motor component as well.

Staffing in the preschool classes consists of a lead teacher, co-teacher, and two full-time assistants, all with the required educational background. The ratio of staff to child is 1:6.
